United Nations, VR & The Power of Storytelling

I just finished reading an interesting article about how UN is using Virtual Reality as a tool for social change.

I have seen a lot of VR experiences, however this video made me realize VR as a powerful medium of Storytelling.

Video: Clouds Over Sidra
Description: The Zaatari Refugee Camp is home to 130,000 Syrians fleeing violence and war. Children make up half the camp’s population. This is the story of Sidra, a 12-year old girl who has spent the last 18 months in Zaatari.
I’d suggest to watch this with Google Cardboard or Oculus/Vive, but if you don’t have that, watch it on mobile to get a decent 360 degree experience instead of on a PC.

Gabo Arora, UN Creative Director, makes an interesting point here about using the modern technology like VR to solve challenging social problems across the world.

In a nutshell, the impact, the gravity of the situation is truly felt when you experience something like this in VR & that calls for the needed sense of urgency to do something about the respective issues.
